Senior Engagement Manager
Describe your role as a Senior Engagement Manager.
As a Senior Engagement Manager, I have in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the project, and I constantly communicate project progress, opportunities, and potential barriers to the client and internal team. If pivots in a project approach are needed, I am able to see those changes coming around the bend and proactively suggest adjustments or alternative approaches. To summarize, I think my role is rooted in collaboration, listening, forecasting, and unending dedication to a client’s business goals.
What steps did you take professionally that led you to this position?
My previous decade of work experience was rooted in research as well as project and account management. I started leading large and complex research projects and then slowly developed into a situation where I was blending my project management and research skills. If you strictly looked at my education, it would be hard to connect the dots for how I got here, but the road I took to get here was slowly crafted by years of in-the-field experience.
What do you love most about your job?
Working with exceptionally talented teammates and constantly learning and evolving my craft. I love establishing open and honest relationships with each client, enabling our team to consistently keep our clients’ business goals top of mind throughout a project.
What is the best advice you have received?
Never stop seeking out opportunities to learn or grow.
What’s the most meaningful impact you’ve made as a Senior Engagement Manager?
I think it’s as simple as doing good work and having fun along the way (with teammates and client partners). You work to accomplish things. You undertake projects to help your clients accomplish something they can’t do on their own. And when this is done well, it enables your clients to use your team’s final output to help their organization prosper. There’s meaning in that.
